The Rules of Writing a College Admission Essay
January 18th, 2008
College admission essay should be of a special format so that your essay looks imposing and proficient. There are several rules that were made up by academic authorities to assist you in writing such an essay.
An admission essay starts with a good title. You’ll need to make a title page. This page must enclose separated lines that have to be placed in the center and have double spaces, the name of the paper and your name. The teacher’s name and the title of a course are not necessary. It’s not essential to start your essay with outlines. However if you have an outline, it should be placed in the middle of the page 1 inch below the top. Keep in mind that the outline has to be in the form of short sentence. It’s a frame of your admission essay.
You have to page up your paper. In case of using MLA format, page up your essay after the title page in the top right corner. The outline pages must appear with Roman numerals. The text itself has to be paged up with Arabic numerals in the top right corner. Start your text 1 inch below the top and leave 1 inch space at the underside and both sides of the essay.
Usually there’s a word or page limits that are given. Don’t digress from these restrictions even if you believe you have something extremely significant to say. If you exceed these limits, the whole work is going to be discarded.
Your paper should have a prologue, the main text and a finale. Instructors have a huge amount of essays to check and if you don’t follow the standards, they’ll get nervous and can give you low grades or even put your essay aside.
Your essay should be typed. Thus it will be easier to read what it says. Nearly all teachers deprecate the papers written in hand. Something uninteresting or invisible won’t attract much attention.
College admission papers have many intricacies regarding their format that you have to follow. During your preparation to write this paper, you should use not only library research technologies, but also ask around your teachers and your parents.
